Regular subscriptions use the usual gift-at-checkout option. Book Clubs use a gift voucher so the recipient can redeem their membership and create their own account.

A quick note before you start
Book Clubs and regular subscriptions use two different gifting routes.
For an HEA or Fantasy Book Club, you choose a gift voucher. The recipient redeems it on their own membership and creates their own account, which is needed for Members Hub access, meeting links and club updates.
For Box of Books, Book & Pamper, Kids and Young Adult subscriptions, you can still use the usual gift option at checkout. The purchaser remains the account holder and the recipient receives the chosen boxes.
If the recipient needs help with a regular gift subscription, they can contact us and we will be happy to help.

There is no right or wrong choice. It just depends on what you think they would enjoy most.
The two Book Clubs are perfect if you think they would enjoy being part of a reading community. They can read the same book as other members, join online meetings, chat about the book and take part in the Book Club community.
The Box of Books and Book & Pamper Box are a little different. They are more focused on the surprise of receiving lovely books and treats through the post, with the added benefit that the recipient can choose their own book genre.
For readers who would love to read together with a community.
For fantasy lovers who would enjoy reading and chatting with other fantasy fans.
For people who love discovering lots of different books.
For anyone who loves books and a little bit of self-care.
The simple setup
Book Clubs use gift vouchers; regular subscriptions still use the normal gift option at checkout.
For HEA or Fantasy, choose the Book Club tier you would like to gift. For Box of Books, Book & Pamper, Kids or Young Adult, go to the usual subscription page.
Click Join on the HEA or Fantasy Book Club tier, choose It's a gift, then select the voucher amount: 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.
This is still the right route for Box of Books, Book & Pamper, Kids and Young Adult subscriptions. You can choose the gift length, add the recipient details and include a personal message.
The purchaser remains the account holder for these regular gift subscriptions.
They redeem the voucher against their chosen Book Club membership and create their own account. This gives them access to the relevant Members Hub, including meeting links, the WhatsApp invite and member updates.
A little reassurance
Don't worry. You have a couple of options, and we can help with either one.
If you are buying a Box of Books or Book & Pamper Box and you are not sure what genre they would like, we suggest choosing something broad such as Fiction.
They can then email us after receiving their first box and let us know which genre they would prefer for their next box.
We can easily update their preference for them.
If you want the recipient to choose their own genre from the beginning, you can choose a later start date for their subscription.
This gives you time to tell them about their gift first. Once they know about their gift, you can log back into your account and change the genre to the one they would like before their subscription starts.
If you choose The Book Club or Premium Fantasy Book Club, there is no genre choice to worry about. Everyone receives the same monthly book, so you can simply choose the Book Club you think they would enjoy and let the surprise begin.
This makes the Book Clubs a particularly easy gift if you don't know exactly what they like to read.
The right account for each gift
For a Book Club gift, the recipient redeems the voucher on their own membership and creates their own account.
That own account is important: it is what lets them access the relevant Members Hub, meeting links, WhatsApp invite and other club information.
For a regular gift subscription, the purchaser remains the account holder and the recipient simply receives the boxes chosen for them.
If the recipient needs help with a regular gift subscription, they can contact us and we will be happy to sort it for them.
Just get in touch if the recipient would like to change anything. We can take care of it for them.

What happens next depends on whether you chose a regular gift subscription or a Book Club gift voucher.
They can let us know if they would like to change their book genre. We will be very happy to update their preference.
They redeem the voucher against their own Book Club membership and create their own account. They can then join the online meetings, book chats and other activities included with their club.
The recipient needs their own account to access the relevant Members Hub, where they will find the WhatsApp group invite, meeting links and other club information. A purchaser's account does not replace the recipient's own member account.
A little something to unwrap
If you are buying a regular subscription as a gift but their first box won't arrive until later, you can download one of our printable gift certificates to give to them.
For a Book Club gift, the voucher email is the important part: the recipient uses it to redeem their membership and create their own account.
Nothing else to remember
Regular gift subscriptions automatically finish once all of the gifted boxes have been sent.
Book Club gift vouchers cover the selected membership period once the recipient redeems them on their own account.
If they have loved their Book Club or regular subscription and want to continue receiving it, they can choose to continue with a new membership.
